Fomo is a social proof platform that shows visitors real-time on-site notifications, such as "Sarah in New York just bought this," "12 people signed up in the last hour," to build trust and drive conversions.
Connect Fomo to Omnisend to automatically send contact activity from Omnisend as Fomo notifications, so your store's social proof reflects what's actually happening in your Omnisend audience.
Benefits
Once the integration is enabled, you can:
Show new-subscriber notifications – Every new Omnisend contact can trigger a "someone just joined" notification on your site
Avoid duplicate notifications – Each event is tagged with the Omnisend contact ID, so Fomo won't show the same notification twice if a sync retries
Note: Fomo's API is only available on their Paid plan - if your Fomo account is on a free or trial plan, you won't see an Auth Token to connect with. Contact Fomo at [email protected] if you need test credits before upgrading.
Before You Begin
Fomo needs a Template with a Notification Message - the actual sentence shown in the on-site popup. You can write this yourself, combining plain text with variables.
You need to create this first, before connecting the integration:
Log in to Fomo and select your website.
Go to Notifications → REST API Templates.
If a template already exists there, open it and note its Template ID — you'll need this in Step 3 below.
If none exists yet, click + Add Notifications → Create your own → REST API → Add Template.
Write your Notification Message using any of these variables: , , , , , , — for example: , which (with a headline of "just joined!" — see Step 3 of Setup below) would show as "Ryan just joined!"
Copy the new Template ID.
Setup Process
Step 1. Get your Fomo Auth Token. In Fomo, select your website, then go to Settings → Site. Your Auth Token is near the bottom of the page.
Step 2. Go to Omnisend App Market → search for "Fomo" → Connect now.
Step 3. Paste your Auth Token, Template ID (from Before You Start above), Notification headline, and Notification link, then click Connect.
Notification headline fills the variable in your Fomo Template's Notification Message - it's not the full displayed text by itself, just the piece you referenced when writing the message in Before You Start.
Notification link fills the variable, and what links to it.
Step 4. Enable the New Contacts → Fomo Notification automation.
Step 5. Confirm the connection is active by creating a new contact - either by manual creation or signing up through an Omnisend signup form - then check the Fomo dashboard's "What's happening" section.
Note: Sync occurs every 5 minutes, so the notification may be delayed by up to 5 minutes after the contact is created.
What Data Syncs to Fomo
For each new Omnisend contact, this integration sends:
First name (if available on the contact)
Email address (used only to fetch a Gravatar image for the notification — never shown publicly)
City / Country (if available on the contact)
Omnisend contact ID (used by Fomo to prevent duplicate notifications)
The headline and link you set on the connection are made available in your Template's Notification Message, and how they appear on-site depends on how you wrote that message in Fomo.
Note: Currently, only one notification design is supported per connection — the same headline, link, and Template apply to every new subscriber. If you'd like to send different notifications for different segments or events, reach out to our support team through the in-app chat or at [email protected] to share your use case — this helps us prioritize what to build next.
Troubleshooting
Notifications aren't appearing on my site
Check that the recipe is enabled in Omnisend and that the Template ID entered matches a Template that still exists in your Fomo account.
Connection test failed
Re-copy the Auth Token from Fomo → Settings → Site and make sure it doesn't include "Bearer" or "Token" in front of it.
FAQ
How can I edit the integration settings?
To change your Auth Token, Template ID, Notification headline, or Notification link, go to Connected apps in the Omnisend app market, remove the Fomo app, and reinstall it.
If you have questions about your Fomo account itself, contact Fomo at [email protected]. For any questions about Omnisend, connect with us via in-app chat or at [email protected].
