Integrate BOLD Subscriptions with Omnisend

Learn how to connect BOLD Subscriptions to Omnisend

Written by Edgaras Vaninas

Bold Subscriptions is an e-commerce that lets online stores sell products on a recurring basis. Connect BOLD Subscriptions to Omnisend to receive subscription events from your store.

Before You Begin

Make sure your store:

  • Has BOLD Subscriptions installed.

  • Has an active, paid BOLD Subscriptions plan.

If you manage multiple stores in Bold Account Center, you must create a separate API access token for each store.

Create a BOLD API Access Token

  1. Select the correct store from the store switcher at the top of the page.

  2. Go to API access tokens → Create API access token.

  3. Enter a name for the token.

  4. Set the permissions as follows:

    • Core Shops: Read

    • Subscriptions Subscriptions: Read & Write

    • Subscriptions Shop: Read

    • All other fields: None

The Shop field under Subscriptions supports read-only. This permission is sufficient.

  5. Click Create.

  6. Copy the API access token and Shared Secret immediately.

Bold displays the API access token and Shared Secret only once. If you lose the token, you must create a new one.

Connect BOLD Subscriptions to Omnisend

  1. In Omnisend, go to App Market → BOLD Subscriptions → Connect.

  2. Paste the API access token into the field.

  3. Click Connect.

You do not need to complete an OAuth redirect or a separate authorization step.

Enable Automation Workflows

After you connect BOLD Subscriptions, the following five events become available in Omnisend:

  • Subscription Created – A new subscription is created.

  • Subscription Paused – A subscription is paused.

  • Subscription Resumed – A paused subscription is resumed.

  • Payment Failed – A subscription payment attempt fails.

  • Subscription Cancelled – A subscription is cancelled.

To use these events, enable a separate Automation Workflow for each one. You can enable one or more of the five available.

Each event includes the full subscription record as event properties, including:

  • Subscription status

  • Order frequency

  • Currency

  • Upcoming and last order dates

  • Line items

  • Customer information

New customer creation is not synced through this integration because Omnisend’s native Shopify contact sync already handles it. The subscription-updated event is also not synced because it occurs too frequently to be useful as a trigger on its own.

Troubleshoot Connection Issues

The connection fails with an authentication or unauthorized error

First, confirm that you selected the correct store in Bold Account Center when creating the token. API tokens are scoped to individual stores.

If the store and token are correct, confirm that the store has an active, paid BOLD Subscriptions plan. BOLD Subscriptions endpoints reject requests when the store does not have an active plan, even if the token and permissions are correct.

You cannot retrieve the API access token

BOLD displays the API access token and Shared Secret only when you create the token. If you lose the token, create a new one.

The integration works for one store but not another

API tokens are scoped per store. Create and use a separate token for each store. Tokens cannot be shared across stores in the same Bold organization.
