Setup Process

Step 1. In Omnisend, go to Apps → search for UpPromote → Click Connect nowCopy API Key.

Step 2. Go to your UpPromote accountSettingsIntegration → find Omnisend and click Connect.

Step 3. In the pop up window paste the API key that you've created. Then click Connect.

Note: To sync the affiliates you had in UpPromote before the integration was enabled, click Re-sync.

Step 4. Go back to Omnisend, check the box I have completed all the steps, and click Confirm.

What Data is Passed

Whenever a new affiliate fills out a registration form and is added to your UpPromote audience, it's synced to Omnisend along with these contact properties:

  • Email address (subscribed to email channel)

  • First name

  • Last name

  • Country

  • State

  • City

  • Address

  • Custom properties: ref_code and coupon

  • Tag: uppromote: affiliate marketing

Here's an example contact passed via the integration:

If any of these contact properties aren't available in UpPromote, the contact will be passed with the available properties.

If the customer updates their affiliate profile (e.g., adds/updates an address), the new data won't be synced to Omnisend automatically. However, if you click the 'Re-sync' button, it'll be synced and replace existing data in Omnisend.

For example, if the customer's city is set to be New York and it's been synced to Omnisend already, but later the customer will change city in his affiliate settings to be London, we'll replace New York with London for this contact in Omnisend next time you click Re-sync in UpPromote integration settings.

Note: Affiliates added manually won't be synced to Omnisend automatically.

Welcome Email for UpPromote Affiliates

To send a welcome email to new contacts synced from UpPromote, first create a segment based on the uppromote: affiliate marketing tag.

Once the segment is created, set up an Automation workflow using the Entered Segment trigger and select your segment as the trigger filter.

For email content, consider including each affiliate's referral link and coupon code – this gives new affiliates everything they need to start promoting right away.

Note: The default affiliate link in UpPromote looks like this: yourwebsiteurl?sca_ref=refcodehere.

However, if you use custom affiliate links for each of your customers, or even let affiliates customize their own links, it'd make more sense to share a link to log in to their affiliate profiles and let them find their unique affiliate link there. You can find your affiliate login page URL in the Settings → GeneralBrand → Subpath.

Add /login to your link (e.g., if your link is https://af.uppromote.com/omnisend, it'll look like this https://af.uppromote.com/omnisend/login) and include in your email content.
