Sometimes using just one marketing channel to get your message to the right people is not enough. While sending an email campaign is the best option ROI wise, not all contacts on the list open each and every email campaign.
Sending an SMS campaign to those, who did not open your email campaign is a good decision and helps you earn even more from your campaigns. This article explains how you can reach those contacts via SMS, who did not open your email campaign.
Before you start
- You need to have your contact's phone number in an international format: +11231234567 (+ country-code area-code phone-number).
- You do not have to use your own phone number to send SMS campaigns via Omnisend.

- This feature is available for users on Standard and Pro plans.
Sending SMS campaign to non-openers
Sending your campaign to those who did not open your email campaign is very easy and only consist of two steps: creating a new segment and sending an SMS campaign.
1. Segmenting non-openers
The main goal for this type of SMS campaign is to contact those subscribers who have not opened a certain campaign and increase the scope of your communication. Find here how to create a segment to send them an SMS campaign.
To start with, you must have at least one email campaign sent, based on which you will create a segment. Once you do, go to Subscribers > Segments > Create segment
Name your segment and select the following 2 sets of rules:
Email activity > HAS been sent campaign > select your campaign from the drop-down list
Email activity > HAS not opened campaign > select the same campaign from the drop-down list as in the first rule
Click on Create segment and you will get all those subscribers to whom you have sent that specific campaign and who did not open it.
The segment will now be listed under Subscribers > Segments.
2. Sending SMS campaign
Once you have your segment ready, go to Campaigns > New campaign > SMS campaign. In the Recipients step of your SMS campaign you will be able to choose your new segment of those, who did not open your previous email campaign.
