When you think about the opportunity to add a video to the Email message, it sounds like a great way to attract your customers' attention by adding dynamic, fresh, and high-quality content. However, some of the biggest email providers (Gmail, Outlook, etc.) don't allow to play video inside the email message. Nevertheless, we have a solution to this problem.

Note that this guide is dedicated to classic Email Builder; if you are using a new Email Builder, jump to the dedicated guide.

Video Content Block

In the editors for both Email Campaigns and Automation workflows, you can add a Video Content Block to the email message content.

To populate the block, you need to add a link to the video (>30 sec) in the content block settings. Once added, Omnisend will automatically convert it to the image with a play button. Currently, two options are supported:

  • Vimeo (Image)

  • Youtube (Image or Animated GIF)

Although it is impossible to play the video in the inbox directly using this block, displaying its preview with the call to action Play button takes its visual representation one step further. After clicking on the Play button, the customer is redirected to the web resource (Vimeo or Youtube), where it can be viewed.

Also, you can check out our integration with Playable - a platform that helps to embed videos in the email.

However, that's not the only option we can offer. While the large video file should be added to the Video block, you may also beatify your email with GIFs. It cannot only be added to the Image file itself but also to the content blocks background or the email message itself.
