It is recommended to start the conversation with your contacts by asking them to share their preference, leave feedback, etc. Among other options, you may also ask your contacts how frequently they want to hear from you? Is it a couple of times per week or once a month?

In this article, we will walk you through the whole process, from collecting your contact preferences to adjusting your sending activity.

The complete set-up will consist of the following stages:

Collecting your contacts' preferences

There might be a variety of different ways to collect your contacts' preferences, the most widely used ones include:

  • Subscriber Preference center;
  • Signup forms.

Although both of these options let you collect the same type of information about your contacts, in some cases, you may want to use one instead of the other.

Subscriber Preference center

Subscriber Preference page can be changed in Store Settings -> Settings -> Preference management page or in the Newsletter editor.

Some of the main benefits of using Subscriber Preference center include:

  • It doesn't require the identifier input field to identify the contact;
  • You can't change the design of this page;
  • You can't send the message every time the preference is updated.

Signup forms

To add the field to Signup form settings, proceed to the Content & Settings, click on the Add additional field.

  • Requires the identifier input field to identify the contact;
  • You can change the design of the Form;
  • You can send the message every time the form is submitted.

Segmenting your contacts based on the collected data

After you start collecting your contacts' properties, you can use them to Segment your contacts based on the value they choose. To account for your contacts preference, you will need to create different Segments for each of the property values, plus one for those that didn't update their preference.

Once you create the Segments based on the values assigned to the Frequency property, you may start scheduling your Campaigns accordingly.
