Integrate RetentionX with Omnisend

Learn how to sync events from RetentionX to Omnisend

Written by Lars Lundin

RetentionX is an ecommerce analytics and customer intelligence platform that tracks customer behavior, lifetime value, retention, purchasing patterns, and attribution in one place.

With the RetentionX–Omnisend integration, you can send conversion events and customer insights from RetentionX directly to Omnisend – and use that behavioral data to build more targeted automation workflows and personalized marketing experiences.

Benefits

Use RetentionX with Omnisend to:

  • Send detailed conversion and behavioral events to Omnisend.

  • Trigger automation workflows based on customer actions tracked by RetentionX.

  • Create more personalized customer journeys using additional behavioral data.

  • Improve campaign targeting by using RetentionX event activity in your segmentation strategy.

  • Re-engage customers based on purchasing behavior and lifecycle signals.

  • Bring RetentionX insights into your existing Omnisend marketing workflows.

Before You Begin

To use the RetentionX integration with Omnisend, you need:

  • A store connected to RetentionX and an implemented RX Pixel.

  • A RetentionX plan that supports Conversion APIs. Conversion APIs are available on RetentionX Core and Growth plans.

  • Permission to create an API key in Omnisend.

Setup Process

Step 1. Create an API Key in Omnisend

  1. Log in to your Omnisend account.

  2. Go to Store settings API.

  3. Click Create API Key.

  4. Name the API key RetentionX.

  5. Under permissions, select Events. RetentionX only needs the Events permission to send conversion events to Omnisend.

  6. Click Create API key, then copy the generated key.

Keep your API key secure. You will not be able to view the full key again after leaving the page.

Step 2. Connect Omnisend in RetentionX

  1. Log in to your RetentionX account.

  2. Go to Settings Integrations.

  3. Find Omnisend and click Connect.

  4. Select Create Omnisend Connection.

  5. Paste the Omnisend API key you created into the API key field.

  6. Click Finish to complete the connection.

Once the accounts are connected, configure the Conversion API events that you want RetentionX to send to Omnisend.

Using RetentionX Events in Omnisend

After RetentionX begins sending events, you can review them in Omnisend and use them when configuring your marketing.

You can use RetentionX events to:

  • Add filters to an automation trigger.

  • Split an automation based on contact or event information.

  • Create segments based on contacts’ event activity, where supported.

  • Analyze how customers respond to lifecycle-focused messaging.

Use Cases

You can use RetentionX events in Omnisend for:

  • Customer lifecycle automations: Trigger different messages based on customer behavior or lifecycle activity identified by RetentionX.

  • Repeat-purchase campaigns: Follow up with customers based on their previous purchase behavior and encourage their next purchase.

  • Win-back workflows: Re-engage customers who show signs of reduced activity or are at risk of not returning.

  • High-value customer messaging: Create more relevant experiences for customers with strong lifetime value or purchasing behavior.

  • Product-focused follow-ups: Send messages based on product or conversion activity tracked by RetentionX.

  • Customer journey personalization: Adjust workflow content or paths using behavioral information included with RetentionX events.

  • Retention strategy: Use customer activity signals to deliver more timely messages intended to increase repeat purchases and long-term customer value.

Troubleshooting

RetentionX events are not appearing in Omnisend

Check that:

  • Your RetentionX plan supports Conversion APIs.

  • The Omnisend integration is shown as connected in RetentionX.

  • The API key entered in RetentionX is correct.

  • The API key has the Events permission.

  • The relevant Conversion API event is enabled in RetentionX.

  • A customer has completed the action required to generate the event.

An automation is not starting

Confirm that:

  • The automation is enabled.

  • The correct RetentionX event is selected as the trigger.

  • The event name in the workflow exactly matches the event being sent.

  • The event contains the customer information required to match it to an Omnisend contact.

Event properties are missing

The properties available in Omnisend depend on the information included in the RetentionX event. Review your Conversion API configuration in RetentionX and confirm which properties are included with the selected event.
