About Product Recommender

Product Recommender automatically pulls up to 8 products from your store โ€” images, titles, descriptions, prices, and links to the product. You get to decide what information should be included in the email content. This content block is refreshed every hour to ensure the latest information is pulled from your store.

To include the most recent information from your store, recommended products are pulled at the last moment before the email is sent. Therefore, products do not appear in the email builder itself and email preview, but they are automatically added to the email content when sent to the recipient. So, if you want to see how the products will look like when an email is sent to the client, you can send a test email to yourself:

To start using Product Recommender, head to either of your emails โ€” a new campaign or a separate email in either of your automation workflows and make sure to select New Email Builder.

Once you are seeing Content, drag and drop the Product Recommender content block from the Quick Add sidebar to your email content.

Once you have your content block in place, you can start editing it.

Block settings

Start editing the Product Recommender block by selecting the number of products you want to show.

A single block can hold up to 8 products. Please note that if you need more than 8 products displayed in a single email, you will need to drag and drop more Product Listing blocks to your email content.

Move the toggle or type in the number of products you'd like to show.

Then you can choose how many columns of products should be displayed in the email. The maximum number of columns is 4 to make sure your customers will see products even on small screens.

Please note that only up to 2 columns can be displayed on the phone screens. You can check this by previewing the email. As a result, all products will be grouped by 2 in a single row.

Once you select the number of products and columns to be shown, you can choose the type of the products. There are 2 categories to choose from Best sellers or the Newest products.

If you select to show Best Sellers, the block will pull products that are sold the most times in your store in the last 9 months. Your store needs to have data on recent orders for this setting to work.

If you select to show Newest Products, the block will pull recently added products to your store. Please note that it acts upon the date when the product was published, not updated.

Personalized recommendations

In Automations, you will have one more type to select - 'Personalized recommendations.' It pulls products based on order history data.

If the customer doesnโ€™t have any orders, you can select the best selling or newest products to be shown as a fallback.

Use this type to show you more relevant products for your post-purchase or win-back automations. You don't need to pick items for Cross-sell and Up-sell automations manually anymore. You can add Personalized Recommendations and make more sales while also bringing real value to your customers.

Note! The same product will not be recommended again if the customer has purchased it within the last 365 days.

Once you've selected the type of your Product Recommender products, you can edit the content that should be shown. You can choose the information you want to pull automatically for each product (image, name, description, price, button that links to product).

Then you can edit the button style and text. Please note that the button is automatically prefilled with a link to that particular product.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip! You can define button styles in mail email settings by clicking anywhere on the email canvas.

To limit the visibility of the block, choose which devices should show the content block selected. You can show it to users viewing your email from:

  • all devices;

  • mobile devices only;

  • desktop devices only.

Manage block padding by typing in the ones that work the best for your email style.

Lastly, you can define the block's primary colors. You can select text and background color for the Product Recommender block.

Click on the plus icon to add your own color from the color palette -> pick the color you need or type in hex -> click Add color.

You can also type in hex color value next to each color field.

That's it; your Product Recommender is all set! Your block will be saved in real-time automatically as you edit it ๐Ÿš€

FAQ

Is it possible to exclude products that I don't want to show in the Product Recommender?

We don't offer "exclude products" functionality yet, but we hope to introduce it in future versions.

Will it be recommended if the product is out-of-stock?

Product recommender will recommend out-of-stock products too. Improvement is expected soon.
