Campaign Booster automatically resends your Email Campaign to contacts who didn't open or click the first time, with a fresh subject line or SMS. This helps you recover engagement without spamming those who already responded.
According to Omnisend data, Campaign Booster can increase open rates by up to 30% compared to the original send.
Before You Begin
Availability: Campaign Booster is available on all Omnisend plans.
Automatic scheduling: Campaign Booster is scheduled and sent automatically; you don't need to manually resend.
Recipient threshold: If you have already sent the Email Campaign, Campaign Booster is only available if you sent it to 100+ recipients. If you turn on Booster during setup, it sends even to smaller lists.
Credit requirements: Campaign Booster requires enough email or SMS credits for both the original campaign and the booster send. If you run out of credits before the booster sends, it will be canceled.
iOS 15 impact: Apple Mail Privacy Protection may affect open tracking. Learn more about iOS 15.
Domain warm-up: Campaign Booster is not available during domain warm-up. Wait until warm-up completes before using this feature.
What is Campaign Booster?
Campaign Booster is an automated feature that resends your email campaign to contacts who didn’t open or click it the first time. You can choose the timing and update the subject line or send an SMS follow-up.
Benefits:
Recover missed opens: Reach contacts who overlooked your email the first time.
Target only non-engagers: The booster is sent only to contacts who didn’t open or click the original campaign.
Save time: Set it up once during campaign creation, no manual resending needed.
Enable Campaign Booster
To enable Campaign Booster, proceed to the Review step in your Email Campaign setup and toggle Campaign Booster on.
Choose whether you want to boost with Email or SMS.
Email Booster
For Email Boosters, you can customize:
Subject line: Use a completely different subject line to avoid fatigue.
Example: If your original was "Sale Ends Tonight," try "Last Chance – Sale Ends in 3 Hours."
Sending rule: Send to contacts who didn't open or didn't click the original Email Campaign.
Timing: Choose when to send the Booster. The default is 48 hours after the original send.
Edit booster content: The Booster email content copies automatically from your original Email Campaign. To edit it:
Click Preview to review the Booster content.
Click Edit Content to make changes.
Click Save & Close when done.
💡 Tip: Change the subject line completely. A fresh angle increases your chance of engagement without annoying contacts.
SMS Booster
For SMS Boosters, you must create SMS content from scratch:
Click Create SMS.
Write your SMS message (same process as creating an SMS Campaign).
Click Edit SMS to adjust the message anytime.
⚠️ Important: Recipients must be subscribed to SMS to receive the Booster. If none are subscribed, you'll see an error message.
Similar to the email booster, you can set the sending rule (contacts who didn't open or didn't click the original Email Campaign) and timing (hours or days).
💡 Tip: Sending an SMS Booster only to non-openers or non-clickers uses fewer SMS credits than sending a standalone SMS Campaign.
Enable Campaign Booster After Campaign is Sent
If you forgot to enable Campaign Booster during setup, you can click the Boost Campaign button for up to 46 hours after the original Email Campaign was sent.
Manage Scheduled Campaign Boosters
After enabling Campaign Booster, a new campaign appears in the Campaigns tab. Its name begins with “Booster of:”, and the scheduled send date appears in the Date column.
Under Campaigns, you can Preview or Delete your scheduled booster.
Delete a Scheduled Booster
To cancel your scheduled Booster Campaign from sending, go to Campaigns → Click the three dots next to your scheduled booster → Click Delete.
Important Notes:
You can only delete Campaign Booster when it's in "Scheduled" status. Once it's "Started", it cannot be canceled.
Deleted Boosters cannot be restored to drafts.
Once deleted, you can still create a new Booster for the original Email Campaign as long as the 46-hour window hasn't passed.
View Campaign Booster Reports
Campaign Booster reports appear in Reports → Campaigns, next to your regular Email Campaigns. The report name starts with "Booster of:" (visible only to you – not to contacts).
All stats for the Booster are separated from the original Email Campaign.
FAQ
What could cause the error status for my Boosted Campaign?
Check whether you have enough email or SMS credits and haven't exceeded your daily sending limit. Review all requirements above.
Is it possible to boost an A/B test Campaign?
No, Campaign Booster isn't available for A/B test Email Campaigns. Instead, create a segment of non-openers and send a follow-up Email Campaign manually.
Why was my Booster sent earlier than expected?
If you use Timezone Optimization, the Booster sends exactly 48 hours after the original Email Campaign for each contact, based on their timezone. The first Booster may appear to send earlier because some contacts are in different time zones.
If I excluded a segment in the original campaign and later add contacts to that segment, will they be excluded from the booster?
No. Contacts added to an excluded segment after the original send will still receive the booster since it is based on contacts who received the original campaign.
Is there any other way to boost my campaign when it's over 46 hours already after it was sent, and the "Boost your campaign" option does not work?
If more than 46 hours have passed and the Boost Campaign button is no longer available, you can manually resend your Email Campaign to non-openers:
Step 1: Create a segment based on the "Message not opened" filter. Add the "Message sent" filter to target only those who received the original Email Campaign.
Step 2: Copy your original Email Campaign and select the new segment as recipients.
Can I use Campaign Booster while warming up my domain?
No. Campaign Booster is disabled during domain warm-up to protect your sender reputation. Once the warm-up completes, you'll regain access to this feature.
Why can't I copy or duplicate a Campaign Booster?
Campaign Boosters are locked to their parent Email Campaign and can't be copied or duplicated. This protects your sender reputation as resending identical content multiple times can trigger spam filters and harm deliverability.
