An Email Campaign is a one-time bulk email you send to all your contacts or a specific segment, including promotional emails, newsletters, and product announcements. Each campaign generates a report with opens, clicks, and sales data.
Before You Begin
Before you create your first campaign, confirm two things are in place:
Your domain is authenticated. Go to Store Settings → Domains, verify your domain, and assign it to Email Campaigns.
Your sender email address matches that domain. Go to Store Settings → Email Addresses and confirm the address you plan to use.
💬 Need help setting up your domain? See Set Up Your Sender Domain in Omnisend.
Create Your Campaign
Go to Campaigns → Create campaign → Email Campaign.
The wizard takes you through five steps: Email Settings, Template, Content, Audience, and Review. You can choose from a range of mobile-responsive templates and customize your email using the drag-and-drop Email Builder – no HTML knowledge needed.
💬 For a full walkthrough of every step, see Create and Send Email Campaigns.
Test Your Campaign
Use the Preview & test button in the Email Builder to see how your email looks on desktop and mobile. You can also use Send test email to send a quick check to your inbox.
⚠️ Test emails use a different sending path than live campaigns and may land in your spam or promotions folder. Personalization tags, product recommendations, and discount codes may also not render correctly in test emails. This does not reflect how your actual campaign will appear to recipients.
Send Your Campaign
When you're ready to send, you can choose your audience and delivery timing.
Audience: Send to all contacts or specific segments. Use Exclude segment to remove groups you don't want to reach – for example, contacts who recently purchased. You can select up to 15 segments combined across the include and exclude fields.
When to send: Choose Send now to deliver within approximately 5 minutes, or Schedule for later to pick a date and time. For scheduled campaigns, you can choose between two delivery modes:
Based on your store's time zone – All contacts receive the campaign at the same moment.
Based on subscriber's time zone – Each contact receives it at the same local time in their location.
💡 Useful Notes:
Omnisend automatically excludes contacts with an Unsubscribed or Non-subscribed status from all Email Campaigns – even if they appear in a selected segment.
Scheduled campaigns update their recipient list 1 minute before send time, so contacts who subscribe after you schedule are still included.
For full scheduling options, see Schedule Your Campaigns.
For creating contact segments, see Get Started with Omnisend Segmentation.
Campaign Booster
Campaign Booster automatically resends your campaign – with a fresh subject line or an SMS follow-up – to contacts who did not open or click the original email.
To enable it: Go to the Review step and toggle Campaign Booster on before you send. Set your sending rule (non-openers or non-clickers) and enter a new subject line. The booster sends 48 hours after the original campaign by default.
If you forgot to enable it before sending: Click the Boost Campaign button on the campaign card within 46 hours of the original send.
💬 For full setup instructions, see Use Campaign Booster.
Track Your Results
After your campaign sends, go to Campaigns and click the campaign name to open its report. You will see open rate, click rate, and unsubscribe rate.
For aggregate performance across all campaigns, go to Reports → Campaigns.
💬 For a full breakdown of campaign metrics, see Omnisend Reports: Individual Campaign and Automation Reports.
FAQ
Why is the sender email field greyed out in my campaign?
The sender email field is greyed out when your domain has not been verified or has not been assigned to Email Campaigns. Go to Store Settings → Domains to fix this, then confirm your sender email matches that domain in Store Settings → Email Addresses.
Why is Campaign Booster unavailable?
It is unavailable if the 46-hour window has passed, your campaign had fewer than 100 recipients, you don't have enough credits, or the original was an A/B test.
My campaign shows "Paused" after I sent it – is something wrong?
If this is your first campaign, your first in 90+ days, or your recipient count is significantly higher than usual, Omnisend sends to approximately 1,000 contacts first and monitors bounce and spam rates for up to 60 minutes.
Your campaign shows a yellow Paused status during this time. This is expected – no action is needed. The rest of your contacts receive the campaign automatically once verification completes. Learn more about Campaign Verification.
A red Paused status means verification failed due to high bounce or spam rates. Learn how to troubleshoot it.
