Timer Types
CountdownMail offers three timer types. Choose the one that matches your use case.
Fixed Date Timer. Counts down to a specific date and time – the same for every recipient. Use for events, sale end dates, or promotions with a shared universal deadline (e.g., "Sale ends August 10 at midnight").
Evergreen Timer. Creates a unique timer for each recipient that starts when the email is sent or opened. Use for follow-up sequences, abandoned cart emails, or any campaign where urgency is personal to each contact.
Dynamic Timer. Counts down to a time provided in the link for each recipient. The end time must be passed as a timestamp in the URL, making it unique per person. Use for advanced personalized deadline campaigns.
FAQ
Which timer type should I use for a flash sale?
Use a Fixed Date Timer – it shows the same deadline to every recipient, which is ideal for a store-wide promotion with a universal end time.
Will the timer work in all email clients?
Animated GIF timers work in most email clients, including Gmail, Apple Mail, and mobile clients. Outlook (Windows) doesn't support animated GIFs and will display the first frame only.
What happens after the timer reaches zero?
You can configure Expiration Options in CountdownMail to control what displays after the countdown ends – for example, a static image or a redirect.
