ActionPop is a popup platform by OnVoard that helps you capture email addresses and phone numbers through on-site campaigns. Its Omnisend integration syncs campaign responses to Omnisend, creating or updating contacts and passing email and SMS marketing consent collected in your popups.
Benefits
Create or update Omnisend contacts from campaign responses.
Configure Omnisend contact sync in your campaign settings.
Include an email address and optionally configure additional fields.
Setup Process
Step 1. In Omnisend, go to Apps → ActionPop → Connect now.
Step 2. In ActionPop, open the campaign connections page and connect your Omnisend account.
Sync Campaign Responses
After connecting your account, turn on the Omnisend sync for each campaign that should send contacts to Omnisend.
Step 1. In ActionPop, edit the campaign and open the Sync tab.
Step 2. Turn on Omnisend Contact and expand it.
Step 3. Under Response Sync, choose which responses to send. Every submission (partial + complete) syncs each step of a multi-step popup as soon as it's submitted, while Completed responses only waits until the visitor finishes the campaign.
Step 4. Under Configurations, select your Omnisend Connection. Optionally, enter tags in Tags to Add to tag every contact this campaign syncs, and turn on Send Welcome Email.
Step 5. Under Field Mappings, match your popup's form values to the Omnisend Email, First Name, Last Name and Phone fields. Map at least the email or phone field your popup collects. Use Custom Mappings to send any additional form values.
Step 6. Click Submit to save the campaign.
And that's it! New responses to this campaign are now synced to Omnisend.
Collect Email and SMS Consent
ActionPop subscribes a contact to email or SMS marketing in Omnisend only when the popup collects consent for that channel through a Consent block. To add one, edit the campaign, drag the Consent element from the Form section onto the page with the email or phone field, then set its Channel (Email or SMS) and the field it Applies To.
Important: Popups without a consent block don't subscribe contacts
If a popup has no consent block for a channel, its contacts still sync to Omnisend, but new contacts are created as non-subscribed for that channel. Existing published popups keep working the same way until you add the block.
For email, choose how visitors opt in under How visitors opt in. With On form submission, submitting the form records email consent, and the disclosure text appears next to the signup button. With Separate checkbox, visitors decide by ticking a box, and if they leave it unticked, the contact is saved but not subscribed to email. Choose the option that fits your legal requirements, for example a separate unticked checkbox for shoppers in regions that require explicit opt-in.
For SMS, the consent block is always an unticked checkbox that visitors must tick to subscribe. For both channels, you can turn on Require checkbox to submit so visitors can't submit the step until they tick the box, which suits popups whose only purpose is a signup.
Edit the disclosure text in the block's Disclosure settings. For SMS, make sure it includes your business name, a link to your privacy policy and the other details your region requires.
How Subscription Status Is Synced
Email and SMS are handled separately, so a contact can be subscribed to one channel and not the other. When a visitor gives consent, Omnisend saves a consent record with the date and the source api:actionpop.
When the visitor… | Result in Omnisend |
Ticks the consent checkbox, or submits an email step set to On form submission | Subscribed to that channel, with consent saved |
Leaves the consent checkbox unticked | Contact saved as non-subscribed to that channel |
Submits a popup with no consent block for that channel | New contacts saved as non-subscribed; existing statuses are kept |
Returns as a non-subscribed contact and gives consent | Upgraded to subscribed, with consent saved |
Returns as a subscribed contact and leaves the checkbox unticked | Stays subscribed (an unticked checkbox never unsubscribes a contact) |
When a popup collects both a phone number and an email address, Omnisend keeps them on a single contact. Contacts subscribed through a checkbox and through On form submission look the same in Omnisend, so if you need to treat them differently, use a separate campaign with its own tag for each opt-in method.
What Data Is Passed
Each synced response creates or updates an Omnisend contact with the following data, depending on your field mappings and consent blocks:
Data | Details |
Email address | Mapped in Field Mappings |
Phone number | Mapped in Field Mappings, with the country code selected in the popup |
First name and last name | Mapped in Field Mappings |
Tags | The tags entered in Tags to Add |
Other form values | Mapped in Custom Mappings |
Email and SMS subscription status | Based on the campaign's consent blocks, with a consent record when consent is given |
Map the form values to the corresponding Omnisend contact fields in Field Mappings. To add tags, enter them in Tags to Add.
The sync settings also include a Custom Mappings section to configure additional mappings for the Omnisend contact.
FAQ
Why are contacts from my popup non-subscribed in Omnisend?
Either the popup has no consent block for that channel, or the visitor left the consent checkbox unticked. Add a Consent block for each channel you want to subscribe contacts to, as described in Collect Email and SMS Consent.
Do I need to update popups I published before consent blocks were added?
They keep syncing contacts without changes, but new contacts arrive as non-subscribed. Add consent blocks if you want those popups to subscribe contacts to email or SMS.
