LAI Product Reviews is a Shopify app that collects and displays product reviews. Connect it with Omnisend to automatically send Review Request and Thank You for Review emails or SMS messages after a purchase.
Note: You need a Premium plan of LAI Product Reviews to use this integration.
Before You Begin: Enable SMS Phone Collection (Optional)
Skip this section if you only plan to send emails through this integration.
To send SMS messages, configure your Shopify checkout to collect phone numbers:
Step 1. Go to Shopify admin → select Settings → go to Checkout. At Customer contact method → select Phone number or email.
Step 2. Customer information → go to Shipping address phone number → Select Optional.
Step 3. At Marketing options → Select SMS.
Setup Process
Step 1. In Omnisend, go to Apps → search for LAI Product Reviews → click Connect Now → copy the API key.
Step 2. In your LAI Product Reviews account, go to the Integrations page and select Omnisend.
Step 3. Paste the API key into the corresponding field and click Verify.
Step 4. Once verified, click Connect.
Step 5. The integration is now enabled on the LAI Product Reviews side.
Step 6. Go back to the LAI Product Reviews page in the Omnisend App Market and click Confirm.
The integration is now active.
What Data is Passed
Once the integration is enabled, 3 custom events can be triggered:
LAI paid orders
LAI reviews are submitted
LAI fulfilled orders
LAI paid orders, and LAI fulfilled orders custom events carry these properties:
email: customer's emails
first_name: customer's first names
full_name: customer's full names
last_name: customer's last names
link: link redirecting to the first product page in the order.
shop name: your shop name
title: first product title in the order
LAI Reviews Submitted custom event carries these properties:
author: buyer's full name
rating: review rating
content: review content
customer_email: buyer's email address
Using LAI Custom Events in Automations
Review Request Workflow
Use the LAI paid orders or LAI fulfilled orders custom event to trigger a review request.
Use LAI paid orders to send the request immediately after payment.
Use LAI fulfilled orders to send it once the order ships.
Recommended approach:
Trigger the Automation on LAI fulfilled orders.
Add a time delay matching your average delivery time (for example, 14 days for a 7–10 day delivery window).
Send the Review Request email first. If it isn't opened within 24 hours, follow up with an SMS.
💡 Tip: This gives customers time to receive and try the product before being asked for a review.
Thank You for Your Review Workflow
Use the LAI reviews submitted custom event to thank customers after they leave a review. You can also include a discount code for positive reviews using the discount item block in your email.
To reward reviewers based on rating, add a conditional split in your Automation. Set the condition to filter by the rating property:
YES path (rating ≥ 4): Send a thank-you email with a discount code.
NO path (rating < 4): Send a message acknowledging the feedback and letting the customer know you'll work to improve.
Note: Some customers may only subscribe via SMS at checkout and won't have an email address on file. To handle this, add separate workflow paths for contacts subscribed to email and those subscribed to SMS only.
