The Trigger Preview Tool allows you to check if contacts that matched the trigger event will enter specific automation.

This tool helps ensure that your automation is set up correctly by showing whether the trigger and audience filters are functioning as intended. It's designed to give you confidence in the accuracy of your workflow before it goes live.

Benefits

  • Accuracy. Confirm that contacts matching your trigger will enter the automation.

  • Early detection. Identify any potential issues with trigger and filter settings before the workflow is activated.

  • Improved testing. Easily test your trigger setup to ensure everything works as expected.

Use Cases

  • Testing new automation. Validate that the trigger and filters are working correctly before launching the automation.

  • Troubleshooting. Use the tool to pinpoint why certain contacts may not qualify to enter the workflow, allowing you to make necessary adjustments.

  • Streamlined setup. Ensure smooth workflow execution by verifying trigger behavior and filter accuracy.

How to Use the Trigger Preview Tool

Step 1. Access the Automation. In Omnisend, navigate to the Automations tab and open an existing automation or create a new one.

Step 2. Open the Trigger Settings. Click on the trigger of your automation to open the settings panel.

Step 3. Preview the Trigger. In the top-right corner of the settings panel, click the Preview button next to the trigger.

Step 4. View Recent Trigger Events. A new window will display how the automation evaluates recent trigger events. You can see up to the last 10 instances of trigger events and whether those contacts will enter the automation.

The right sidebar shows profiles that triggered the last 10 events and whether they passed the trigger and audience filters.

  • Green checkmark: The contact met all conditions and will enter the automation.

  • Red X: The contact did not meet the necessary filters and will not enter the workflow.

Step 5. Review Detailed Information for Each Contact.

When selecting a contact from the list, you will see:

  • Contact name and email address.

  • A link to the contact’s full profile.

  • Whether the contact qualifies to enter the automation.

  • The trigger event that occurred.

  • The trigger filters and whether the contact met all the requirements.

Step 6. Evaluate Filters.  Each filter is reviewed to determine if the contact qualifies. If a contact doesn’t meet the conditions, they will be skipped. Any mismatched filters will be marked with a red X, helping you identify what went wrong.

The Trigger Preview makes it easier for you to ensure that your automation triggers and filters work as expected. This feature allows you to test your workflows before they go live, helping optimize your automations and avoid potential issues.
