Integrate Attribuly with Omnisend

Learn how to connect Attribuly with Omnisend

Written by Tomás Alloatti

Attribuly connects shopper activity and customer segments with Omnisend. Use it to personalize follow-ups based on what shoppers browse, add to their cart, or do in your store.

Benefits

  • Build follow-ups around browsing, cart, checkout, and signup activity.

  • Personalize cart emails with product details and a link back to checkout.

  • Reach customer audiences created in Attribuly through Omnisend segments.

Before You Begin

For Shopify tracking, install the Attribuly app on your store. You’ll enable its App Embed during setup.

Setup Process

Step 1. Connect your Omnisend account

In Attribuly, go to Connections → Sources → Browse All Sources. Find Omnisend, click Connect now, then Connect Omnisend Account. Sign in if prompted, select the Omnisend brand you want to connect, and authorize the connection.

Step 2. Enable event sync

Go to Connections → Destinations → Add destination and select Omnisend. Choose the connected Omnisend account and the events you want to sync, then click Save Configuration.

Complete the destination’s setup checklist, including enabling the Attribuly App Embed in your active Shopify theme. Click Go Live. The destination should show Active and its configuration Completed.

Your event connection is ready. You can create workflows or sync a customer segment whenever you need them.

What Data Is Passed

The Omnisend event destination sends these custom events to identified contacts:

Checkout Started - Attribuly SS

Collection View - Attribuly SS

Event properties describe the activity and its context. The fields available depend on the event:

os

The operating system, such as macOS

initial_page_path

The initial page path for the visit

raw.abandoned_checkout_url

raw.line_items

To see the values received for a contact, go to Audience → Contacts, open the contact, and expand an Attribuly event under Contact activity.

Use Events in Omnisend Workflows

In an Omnisend Automation Workflow, select the relevant Attribuly custom event as the trigger. For a cart follow-up, choose Added to Cart - Attribuly SS. Set the audience, delays, and skip rules alongside your existing cart workflows before enabling it.

For cart emails, use [[event.raw.abandoned_checkout_url]] as the cart button’s link.

Add Dynamic Content, select line items, and use these fields:

Preview the email with event data before starting the workflow.

Sync Customer Segments

Segment sync uses a separate Omnisend Segment destination. You’ll need access to Segments and this destination in Attribuly.

  1. Go to Customer Retention → Segments in Attribuly and create or choose the customer audience you want to sync.

  2. Open Connections → Destinations → Add destination and select Omnisend Segment.

  3. Select the source audience, the connected Omnisend account, and an existing or new Omnisend destination segment.

  4. Save the configuration and click Go Live.

Attribuly adds a contact custom property named attribuly_segment_code_<segment code>, with the segment code as its value. The destination segment uses that property to identify its members; you don’t need to add it manually.

Open Audience → Segments in Omnisend to view the synced audience and use it in campaigns or workflows. On an individual contact, you can also check the custom property and segment membership.

FAQ

Why don’t I see an event in Omnisend?

Check the Omnisend account selected in the destination, that the destination is Active and configuration is Completed, and that the Attribuly App Embed is enabled in your active theme. Review the destination’s data report, then look for the event under the contact’s Contact activity.

Why is a contact missing from my synced segment?

Confirm that the contact belongs to the source audience in Attribuly and that the Omnisend Segment destination is active. Check the data report and the contact’s attribuly_segment_code_<segment code> property in Omnisend.

Do I need to replace Omnisend tracking?

No. Keep Omnisend tracking enabled while using the Attribuly App Embed.
