Learn how to connect your SureCart store with Omnisend

SureCart is a WordPress-based ecommerce platform. Connecting it to Omnisend syncs your store's contacts, orders, and cart events to your account – so you can send targeted email and SMS automations, build segments based on purchase behavior, and grow your audience with Signup Forms.

This article walks you through connecting your SureCart store to Omnisend.


Before You Begin

Make sure you have the following before starting:

Keep all three plugins updated to their latest versions before connecting.

Connect Your SureCart Store

Step 1. Log in to your Omnisend account and click Connect store in the dashboard.

Step 2. Select SureCart as your platform.

Step 3. Copy the API key shown and keep it ready for the next step.

Step 4. Go to your WordPress admin. Confirm that all three required plugins are installed and active: SureCart, Omnisend WordPress, and Omnisend for SureCart Add-On.

Step 5. In your WordPress admin, open the Omnisend WordPress plugin settings and paste the API key you copied from Omnisend. You should see a success message once the key is accepted.

Step 6. Go back to Omnisend and click Check API connection under the API key field to finalize the connection.

After connecting, your store will appear as Other under Store settingsConnected store in Omnisend. This is expected and does not affect any functionality. All supported automations, data sync, and features work normally.

That's it. You'll have the option to add your Brand Assets. After that, you'll land on the Dashboard, confirming the integration is active.


What Data is Passed to Omnisend

  • Contacts with the tag source: surecart

    • You can edit consent management settings for your SureCart → Omnisend integration in your SureCart plugin settings in WordPress.

    • If the consent management box is unchecked at checkout, the contact is added to Omnisend as non-subscribed. Non-subscribed contacts can receive transactional automations (such as Order Confirmation), but not marketing campaigns or newsletters. Learn more about contact statuses.

  • Products and their collections.

  • Added to cart and started checkout events.

  • Orders – placed, paid, fulfilled, canceled, and refunded.

When you first connect your SureCart store, Omnisend syncs your existing contacts and their historical orders.

⚠️ For historical orders, only placed order events are synced. Fulfilled, refunded, or canceled statuses from before the connection are not imported.

FAQ

My store shows as "Other" in Omnisend – is the integration broken?

No. After connecting SureCart, your store appears as "Other" under Store Settings. This is expected and does not affect any features, automations, or data sync.

Can I let SureCart send order emails and use Omnisend only for newsletters and promotions?

You can. If you prefer to manage all customer emails in Omnisend (for consistent branding and segmentation), disable the matching notification emails in your SureCart settings after activating the equivalent Omnisend automations. This prevents duplicate messages from being sent to customers.

What happens to contacts who don't check the marketing consent box at SureCart checkout?

They are added to Omnisend as non-subscribed. Non-subscribed contacts can receive transactional automations (such as Order Confirmation and Shipping Confirmation), but not marketing campaigns or newsletters. To receive marketing emails, a contact must either check the consent box at checkout or subscribe through an Omnisend Signup Form.
