In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to successfully move your push notification subscribers from PushOwl into your Omnisend audience. PushOwl is a dynamic push notifications app that is available to Shopify customers.

Before You Begin

PushOwl does not support direct user export of contacts. You will need to contact PushOwl support to request your data:

  • Private Key. This is crucial for sending push notifications to your contacts once they are imported.

  • Spreadsheet of your push subscribers. This should include the push subscription keys, email addresses, countries, and subscription dates of each subscriber.

We will provide you with a message you can send to the PushOwl support team during the import process. Alternatively, you can copy the text below to request it beforehand.

"I’d like to export my push subscribers. Please generate a spreadsheet that would include: the subscription key, email address, country, and subscription date of each subscriber I have. Also, please provide my private key."

Setup Process

Step 1. Navigate to Audience → click 'Add contacts.'

Step 2. Select 'Import contacts from PushOwl' to proceed to the next step.

Step 3. Paste the private key from PushOwl if you have already requested it from their support team. If not, copy the request text and send it to PushOwl support. Once they provide you with the necessary information, proceed with the import.

You can copy the support request text from here, too ⤵️

"I’d like to export my push subscribers. Please generate a spreadsheet that would include: the subscription key, email address, country, and subscription date of each subscriber I have. Also, please provide my private key."

Step 4. Click 'Next' to proceed with the import.

Step 5. Upload the spreadsheet you received from PushOwl support by dragging and dropping the file or clicking 'Browse files' to find the file.

Make sure to import .xls, .xlsx, .ods, or .csv files. Other file types are not supported.

Click 'Next' after you have uploaded the file.

Step 6. Review the number of contacts detected in your file and click 'Import.'

Step 7. Find your import under the 'Imports' tab of your Omnisend Audience.

Great news! Your push subscribers have been successfully imported to Omnisend.

What's Next

Now that you've imported all your PushOwl push subscribers to Omnisend, you can

send your audience push campaigns or add push notifications to your Automations flows.

Remember, push notifications should always include an action the recipient wants to take. The message should include a direct call to action in your app.

To create a push campaign, go to the Campaigns tab, click create campaign → find Push notification → click 'Create notification'.

As the next step, you will be able to edit the Content of your notification. You can edit your campaign's title, text, logo, and image here.

Also, note that push notifications are not a separate automation type; they are an additional step within available workflows, meaning you can combine push notifications with any other channels like email or SMS. Once added to the flow, you can edit the content of your notification.

We recommend checking the guide linked below to learn more about push notifications and how to use them in Omnisend.
