Sales Tab Overview

The Sales tab is designed to help you understand the revenue generated by your store and the contribution of your marketing efforts.

Customizable Attribution Date

Omnisend allows you to adjust how orders and revenue are attributed within the Sales Reports page. While all other reports, including Campaign and Automation reports, continue to attribute data based solely on the message sent date, you have the option to change this attribution method for Sales Reports.

To change it, navigate to the Sales tab within Reports. Click the settings icon (three vertical dots) in the top-right corner. Select your preferred attribution method. Your choice will immediately update the attribution logic for the Sales Reports page.

Attribution Options

1. Default: Attribute orders to the message sent date

  • Revenue and orders are assigned to the day the message was sent.

  • This is the default attribution method across all Omnisend reports, including Campaigns and Automations.

2. Optional: Attribute orders to the placed order date

  • Revenue and orders are assigned to the day the order was placed by the customer.

  • This setting is only available for the Sales Reports tab and offers flexibility for tracking sales activity.

Important Notes

  • Changing this setting will only affect the Sales Reports page.

  • Campaign and Automation reports will continue to use the message sent date for attribution and cannot be customized.

Store Performance
This section answers the question: How is my store performing overall?

  • Total Store Revenue: The total revenue generated by your store, including revenue from Omnisend marketing and other sources.

    • From Omnisend: Revenue attributed to campaigns, workflows,  or joint revenue from all your campaigns and automations.

    • Not from Omnisend:  All revenue not attributed by Omnisend, like organic sales, etc.

Pro Tip: Use this information to quickly identify how much Omnisend is contributing to your store’s success.

  • Revenue Per Placed Order: The average placed order value.

    • This metric helps you measure efficiency and identify opportunities to increase order value.

  • Performance Graph:

    • Track trends in total store revenue, comparing Omnisend-attributed revenue to other sources.

💡Set a custom date range (e.g., last quarter or holiday season) to analyze revenue trends during specific campaigns or high-sales periods. Compare Omnisend versus not from Omnisend revenue to evaluate marketing impact.

Filter by date range (e.g., last 30 days, weekly, daily) and time granularity (e.g., use daily views for short-term sales overview or monthly views to evaluate trends over time). Note that these filters apply to the entire page, not just specific sales sections ⤵️

Click on the How we calculate sales link in any section for an explanation of what logic and rules Omnisend uses to calculate sales metrics. This transparency ensures you fully understand how the data reflects your store's performance.

Marketing Activity Performance
This section answers the question: How much do campaigns versus automation contribute to my overall marketing success?

  • Revenue from Omnisend: Total revenue generated by Omnisend activities, broken down into:

    • Campaigns: Revenue from email, SMS, or Push campaigns.

    • Workflows: Revenue from all automations.

  • Performance Graph: Compare revenue trends across campaigns and automation, helping you compare and evaluate their contribution.

Pro Tip: If automatins consistently outperform campaigns, consider optimizing your campaign strategy or investing more in automation.

Channel Performance
This section answers the question: Which channels are driving the most revenue?

  • Revenue is broken down by channel (Email, SMS, and Push).

  • Use the Performance Graph to visualize channel-specific trends over time.

  • Sent SMS Cost is the total amount spent on sending SMS campaigns and automation, plus a breakdown by campaigns and automation. Note that the sent SMS cost is tracked and reported only in USD, regardless of your store's currency.

Campaigns Tab

  • Performance metrics like open and click rates and revenue generated by each campaign, order, and message sent.

  • Visual performance comparisons for campaigns over time.

  • Deliverability insights like performance by recipient email domains, your sender domains, or recipient phone number country.
