You can copy segments between multiple stores in Omnisend. This helps save time when managing multiple brands and keeps your segmentation strategy consistent across stores and accounts.

This article explains how to copy segments to other stores in Omnisend.

Before You Begin

  • All user roles can copy segments across stores, as long as they have access to both the source and destination accounts.

  • You can copy segments between stores that share the same ecommerce platform (Shopify → Shopify, WooCommerce → WooCommerce, etc.). Cross-platform copying is not supported because different platforms use different events and data structures.

  • Only the segment rules and filters are copied, not the contacts. The copied segment will pull in contacts from the destination store based on the segment filters.

  • You can copy segments among stores you have access to, including:

    • Stores registered under the same owner account;

    • Stores where you're added as a user.

Copy Segments

To copy a segment from one store to another, follow these steps:

Step 1. Go to AudienceSegments → locate the segment you want to copy → click the three-dot menu next to it → select Copy to another store.

Step 2. Select the destination store(s) from the dropdown menu. You can select one or multiple stores.

💡 If your stores are under different accounts, add the same user to each account. That user will then be able to copy segments across all associated accounts.

Step 3. Edit your segment name.

Step 4. Click Copy. A success message will confirm the segment was copied.

Step 5. Switch to the destination store to view and adjust the copied segment if needed. Go to AudienceSegments to find it.

Note: The copied segment will have the same filters and rules as the original, but it will pull contacts based on the destination store's contact data.

Review and Edit Copied Segments

After copying a segment, it's important to review and update it in the destination store to ensure all filters are compatible with that store’s data.

💡 Changes made to the original segment will not affect the copied segment, and vice versa.

Start by switching to the destination store and opening the copied segment under Audience → Segments. Review the segment conditions carefully:

  • Product-based filters: If the segment includes product names, collections, or tags, confirm that those products exist in the new store. Update filters as needed.

  • Custom events: Make sure any custom events used in the segment are already set up in the destination store. If they aren’t, you’ll need to either configure them or remove the related conditions.

  • Tags: Check that the referenced contact tags exist. If not, create the missing tags or use existing ones.

  • Store-specific data: Review any conditions based on URLs, forms, or signup sources, as these may vary across stores.

If any data is missing or mismatched, modify the filters and click Update segment.

Note: If essential filters, like custom events or tags, are not available in the destination store, the segment may return inaccurate results or no contacts at all. Always review the segment after copying to ensure it's working correctly.

FAQ

Can I copy a segment from Shopify to WooCommerce?

No. You can only copy segments between stores that use the same ecommerce platform. For example, you can copy from Shopify to Shopify, or WooCommerce to WooCommerce, but not across different platforms. This is because different platforms have different data structures and available filters.

Will the copied segment automatically update when I change the original?

No. Once you copy a segment, it becomes a separate, independent segment in the destination store. Changes to the original segment will not affect the copied version, and vice versa.

Why is my copied segment empty or showing different contact numbers?

This is expected. Only the segment rules are copied, not the contacts. The destination store will populate the segment based on its own contact data. If the destination store has fewer contacts matching the criteria, the segment will naturally be smaller.
