The copy option saves time by letting you duplicate Automation workflows within the same account or across different Omnisend accounts. Use it to replicate successful workflows or migrate workflows when expanding to new markets.
In this article, you'll learn how to copy workflows, what data transfers automatically, and what requires manual configuration.
Before You Begin
User Roles: All user roles can copy automation between accounts expect the Analyst and Content Creator roles. Learn more about User Roles Management.
You can only copy automation among accounts you have access to.
Platform Compatibility
Entity-based workflows (e.g., Birthday, Product Back in Stock) can be copied between brands on any ecommerce platform.
Event-based workflows (e.g., Abandoned Cart, Order Confirmation) can only be copied between brands on the same platform (e.g., Shopify → Shopify, WooCommerce → WooCommerce).

💡 If you need to copy an event-based workflow to a different platform, save the email template and recreate the workflow manually.
Copy an Automation Workflow
Step 1. Go to Automation → locate the workflow you want to copy → click the three-dot menu (⋮) → select Copy to another store.
If you'd like to copy your automation within the same account, select Copy instead.
Step 2. Select the destination account(s) from the dropdown menu. You can select one or multiple accounts.
💡 Use the search bar to easily find your target accounts.
Step 3. Edit your workflow name → Click Copy.
A success message will confirm that the workflow was copied.
💡 The full workflow steps, trigger settings, message content, delays, and split conditions are copied to the destination account.
Step 5. Switch to the destination account to view and adjust the copied workflow if needed. Go to Automation to find it.
Note: The copied workflow is always saved as a draft.
Review and Adjust Copied Workflows
After copying a workflow, it's important to review and update it in the destination account to ensure all settings match the new store or brand.
💡 Changes made to the original workflow will not affect the copied workflow, and vice versa.
Start by switching to the destination account and opening the copied workflow under Automation. Review the settings carefully:
What Will NOT Transfer
When you copy a workflow, account-specific and workflow-specific data will not transfer. You'll need to configure these manually:
Account-specific information:
Sender's name (email & SMS messages).
Sender's email address.
Push notification destination URL and custom links.
Workflow-specific information:
Trigger filters.
Segment or Custom event used as a trigger.
Form, Abandoned product, or Page URL trigger rules.
Add/Remove tag actions.
Audience filters.
UTM parameters.
After copying, Omnisend will display an error message listing the missing fields that need configuration.
Review Checklist
Trigger filters: If the workflow uses product/collection/tag filters, update them to match the destination account's catalog.
Segments: If the workflow targets specific segments, verify they exist or create them in the destination account.
Sender information: Fill in the sender name and email address for all messages.
Discount codes: If the workflow includes discount codes, confirm they're configured in the destination account.
UTM parameters: Review and update UTM tags to match the new account's tracking setup.
If any settings need adjustment, make the changes, click Save & Close, or Start workflow when ready.
FAQ
Can I copy a workflow to multiple accounts at once?
Yes. In the "Copy to another store" modal, select all destination accounts from the dropdown menu and click Copy. The workflow will be duplicated for each account in one action.
Why can't I copy an event-based workflow to a different platform?
Event-based workflows (like Abandoned Cart or Order Confirmation) rely on platform-specific event data. For example, Shopify's checkout events differ from WooCommerce's. These workflows can only be copied between accounts on the same platform. To move an event-based workflow cross-platform, save the email template and recreate the workflow manually in the destination account.
Will my copied workflow be active, or do I need to turn it on?
Copied workflows are always created in draft status. After copying, open the workflow in your destination account, review and update any missing information (sender details, segments, triggers), then manually enable the workflow.
