Shopwaive lets you give customers store credit, cashback, rewards, and loyalty balances. With the Shopwaive integration, every balance change in Shopwaive is sent to Omnisend as a custom event. The customer's current balance is saved on their Omnisend contact profile.
You can then send "You've earned credit" or "Your balance is waiting" emails, remind customers to spend their balance, and build segments of customers who have credit to use.
Benefits
Automatic balance updates: every credit, debit, reward, or manual adjustment in Shopwaive reaches Omnisend within minutes.
Balance on the contact profile: the current balance, its expiration date, and the customer's referral link are stored as custom properties.
Ready-made automation trigger: start automations from the Shopwaive - Balance changed event and use the amount and new balance in your messages.
Better segments: target customers with unused credit, high balances, or credit that expires soon.
No code required: connect with a Shopwaive API key in a few clicks.

What Data is Passed
Contacts & Custom Properties
Shopwaive balance changes are matched to Omnisend contacts by email address. If no contact with that email exists yet, Omnisend creates one.
Contacts receive the following custom properties as well:
Property | Description | Example |
| The customer's current Shopwaive balance |
|
| When the balance expires. Set only if the balance has an expiration date |
|
| The customer's referral link. Set only if the Shopwaive referral program is enabled |
|
These custom properties are updated every time the balance changes, so they always show the latest value.

Use Shopwaive Data in Omnisend
Automations
Create a custom automation with the Shopwaive - Balance changed event as the trigger. For example:
"You've got credit" email: trigger on the event and add a filter so it only runs when
directioniscredit. Show theamountand the newbalance_afterin the message."Don't forget your balance" reminder: after the event, add a delay of 14 days. Then send a reminder to customers whose
shopwaive_balanceis still above 0.Loyalty thank-you: trigger on credits with a specific
note, for example rewards from your loyalty or referral program.
Segments
Use the contact custom properties to build segments, for example:
Customers with unused credit:
shopwaive_balanceis greater than 0.High-value balances:
shopwaive_balanceis greater than 50.Credit expiring soon:
shopwaive_balance_expiration_dateis within the next 30 days.
Personalization
Add shopwaive_balance and shopwaive_referral_url to your emails and SMS as personalization tags. Add your currency or "points" label next to the balance in the message, because the property stores only the number.
FAQ
How fast do balance changes appear in Omnisend?
Omnisend checks Shopwaive for new balance activity every 5 minutes, so changes usually appear within about 5–6 minutes.
Which balance changes are synced?
All balance activity Shopwaive records are manual edits in the Shopwaive admin, credits added through the API or imports, and order, cashback, and reward activity.
Are past balances synced when I connect?
No. Only balance changes made after you turn on the integration are synced. A customer's shopwaive_balance property is set the first time their balance changes after setup.
Does the integration change customers' subscription status?
No. The integration doesn't subscribe anyone to email or SMS. New contacts created by the integration aren't subscribed and must opt in through your Omnisend forms or other sources.
What happens to balance changes without an email address?
They're skipped because Omnisend matches customers by email.
I revoked or lost my Shopwaive API key. What should I do?
Create a new key in Shopwaive (Settings → Develop), then reconnect Shopwaive in Omnisend with the new key.
Is the sync two-way?
No. Data goes only from Shopwaive to Omnisend. Changes made in Omnisend aren't sent back to Shopwaive.
