Toki Loyalty is a Shopify app for loyalty programs, memberships, referrals, and wallet passes. The Omnisend integration sends Toki loyalty events and member data to Omnisend, so you can use points, tiers, and memberships in your segments and automations.
How It Works
Toki connects to Omnisend with an Omnisend API key that you paste into Toki. Once connected, data flows one way – from Toki to Omnisend:
Custom events are sent when the matching activity happens in a Toki campaign or workflow.
Custom properties on the contact hold the member’s loyalty data, such as balances, tier progress, and dates.
Setup Process
Step 1. In Omnisend, go to Apps → search for Toki Loyalty → click Connect now → click Copy API Key.
Step 2. In your Shopify admin, open Toki Loyalty under Apps and select Integrations.
Step 3. Find Omnisend in the list of integrations and click Install. On the Install Omnisend page, paste the key into the API Key field and save.
Step 4. In Omnisend, check the box that I have completed all the steps → click Confirm.
What Data Is Passed
Toki sends the following custom events to Omnisend:
Custom Event Name | When it fires |
Toki Points Earned | Triggered when a member earns points in a Toki campaign or workflow. |
Toki Membership Unlocked | Triggered when a member unlocks a membership in Toki. |
Toki Referred a Friend | Triggered when a member refers a friend in Toki. |
Toki Points Earned includes the fields amount, toki_point_balance, and toki_points_earned. These fields arrive as text, not numbers. For number comparisons, such as “greater than 500”, use the contact properties toki_point_balance and toki_points_earned instead.
Toki also sends the following contact custom properties to Omnisend:
Property key | Type | Description |
| Number | The member’s points balance. |
| Number | The member’s monetary balance. |
| Number | Points the member has earned. |
| Number | Points the member needs to reach the next tier. |
| Number | Spend the member needs to reach the next tier. Empty when the next tier is not spend-based. |
| Number | Points balance for one store credit. Sent only when your program runs more than one store credit. |
| Number | Monetary balance for one store credit. Sent only when your program runs more than one store credit. |
| Date | When the member’s points expire. |
| Date | The date of the next paid membership payment. |
| Date | When the member added a wallet pass. |
| Date | When the member added the Apple Wallet pass. |
| Date | When the member added the Google Wallet pass. |
Create Automation Workflows with Toki Events
You can use the custom events sent from Toki to create Automation Workflows in Omnisend. Go to Automation → Create workflow → Create from scratch. In the trigger area, select your Toki custom event.
Note: The custom event must be synced to Omnisend at least once before you can select it as an automation trigger.
Here are example workflows you can build:
Points update – trigger: Toki Points Earned. Send an email that tells the member how many points they earned and their new balance.
Membership welcome – trigger: Toki Membership Unlocked. Welcome the member to their new membership and list its perks.
Referral thank-you – trigger: Toki Referred a Friend. Thank the member for the referral.
Points expiry reminder – build a segment of contacts whose
toki_points_expires_atis within the next 14 days and send them a reminder to use their points.
FAQ
Why doesn’t a number condition work on an event field?
Event fields on Toki Points Earned, such as toki_point_balance, arrive as text. Use the contact properties toki_point_balance and toki_points_earned for number conditions.
Why is a property empty for some contacts?
A value that is empty in Toki stays empty in Omnisend. For example, toki_nt_spend_left is empty when the member’s next tier is not spend-based, and date properties are empty when the member has no such date.
What should I check if events or properties don’t appear in Omnisend?
Check that:
Omnisend is installed on the Integrations page in Toki.
The matching campaign or workflow is set up in Toki.
If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the app.
