You can offer a discount through a Signup Form in two ways:
Use a Static discount, where every contact receives the same code.
Use a Unique discount, where each contact receives a different generated code.
You can show the discount in the Success Message, send it through a Welcome Automation Workflow, or use both methods.
Important: Unique discounts in Signup Forms are currently available for Shopify stores only.
Before You Begin
Before adding a discount to your Signup Form, keep the following in mind:
Static discounts: You must first create the discount code in your store before adding it to Omnisend.
Unique discounts: Currently supported for Shopify stores only. You can configure these discounts directly in Omnisend.
Gamification items: Wheel of Fortune is available on all Omnisend plans, while Scratch card and Mystery box are available on the Pro plan only.
💡 New to Signup Forms? Start by learning about the available Signup Form types.
Choose Between Static and Unique Discounts
Both discount types can be used in Signup Forms, including Forms with gamification items.
Discount type | What it does | Why use it |
Static discount | Uses one discount code for every contact. | When you want to offer one shared promotional code to everyone who signs up. |
Unique discount | Generates a different discount code for each contact. | When you want to reduce code sharing and provide individual discount codes. |
With Unique discounts, you configure the discount rules once, and Omnisend uses those rules to generate individual codes for contacts.
Add a Discount to Your Signup Form
Step 1. Go to Forms → create a new Signup Form or open an existing form → open the form in the Form Builder.
Step 2. Choose whether to add the discount through a gamification item or the Success Message.
Option 1: Add a Discount Through a Gamification Item
Use this option when you want visitors to interact with a game before receiving the discount.
You can add the following items to your Signup Form:
Wheel of Fortune: Configure winning slices and assign a Static or Unique discount to each relevant slice.
Scratch card: Configure the Static or Unique discount visitors receive after scratching the card.
Mystery box: Configure the Static or Unique discount visitors receive after choosing a box.
Option 2: Add a Discount to the Success Message
Use this option when you want to display a discount after a contact submits your Signup Form. You can use the Discount item on its own or alongside a gamification item to display the discount received through the game.
Open the Success step at the bottom of the Form Builder, then drag the Discount item into the Success Message.
In the Discount item settings, select the option that matches your Form:
Use Wheel of Fortune discount: Display the discount received through Wheel of Fortune.
Use game discount: Display the discount received through Scratch card or Mystery box.
Use your own discount: Configure a Static or Unique discount directly in the Success Message, without using a gamification item.
The Success Message displays the selected discount after a contact submits the Form.
Configure a Static Discount
A Static discount uses the same code for every contact. This is useful when you want to offer a general promotional code without generating individual codes.
Before you start: Make sure the discount code has already been created in your store.
To configure a Static discount:
Step 1. Click your gamification item or the discount item in the Success Message to open the discount settings.
Step 2. Select Static and enter the discount code you created in your store.
Step 3. Save your changes or enable your form.
Every contact who receives this discount will get the same code.
Example: If you create the code WELCOME10 in your store and add it as a Static discount, everyone who receives that discount through your form will get WELCOME10.
Configure a Unique Discount
A Unique discount generates a different discount code for each contact. This helps reduce code sharing while allowing you to manage the discount rules in one place.
Note: Unique discounts in Signup Forms are currently available for Shopify stores only.
To configure a Unique discount:
Step 1. Click your gamification item or the discount item in the Success Message to open the discount settings.
Step 2. Select Unique.
If you haven’t created a discount setup before, select Create discount and configure the discount settings according to the offer you want to provide:
Name: Enter a name to identify your discount setup.
Discount type: Choose Cart discount or Free shipping.
Value type and Discount value (Cart discount only): Choose Percentage or Fixed, then enter the discount percentage or amount.
Apply discount to: Choose whether the discount applies to All orders, orders meeting a Minimum order price, or a specific Collection.
Combinations: Choose whether the discount can be combined with other discounts. The available options depend on the discount type:
Cart discount: Product discounts, Order discounts, or Shipping discounts.
Free shipping: Product discounts or Order discounts.
Expiry: Enable Set discount expiry if you want the generated discount codes to expire, then configure the expiry settings.
Once you've configured the settings, select Create discount.
If you've already created a discount setup, you can select an existing one instead.
You can also edit an existing setup to adjust its settings. Click the edit icon → adjust settings → click Save changes.
Important Notes:
You can reuse the same discount setup across multiple Signup Forms. Reusing a setup doesn't mean every contact receives the same code. Omnisend generates individual discount codes based on the rules defined in that setup.
If you edit a discount setup, the changes apply to all Signup Forms that use it.
Step 3. Save your changes or enable your form.
Choose How to Deliver the Discount
After configuring the discount, choose how contacts receive it.
Show the Discount in the Success Message
To display the discount after a contact submits your Signup Form, add the Discount item to the Success Message, as explained above.
Make sure you select the correct discount source:
Use your own discount: Display a Static or Unique discount configured directly in the Success Message.
Use Wheel of Fortune discount: Display the discount received through Wheel of Fortune.
Use game discount: Display the discount received through Scratch card or Mystery box.
You can also customize the Discount item's appearance before saving and enabling your Form.

Send the Discount Through a Welcome Automation Workflow
You can send the discount in a message after a contact subscribes through the Signup Form.
💡 Use this method when you want to send the discount to contacts through an Email, SMS, or Push notification.
Step 1. Create or open a Welcome Automation Workflow.\
Step 2. Add or open your email message.
Step 3. Add a text block where you want the code to appear → open the Personalization menu and select Discount code.
The personalization tag appears as: [[event.discount_code]]
💡 Sending the discount through SMS or Push notifications? Click the SMS or Push notification block in your Welcome Automation Workflow. In the settings panel on the right, use Personalization to insert the Discount code tag.
The workflow reuses the discount generated by the Signup Form. It does not generate a second code.
💡 Use both delivery methods: If your Signup Form generates the discount, you can show it in the Success Message and send the same code through a Welcome Automation Workflow. The workflow reuses the generated code and does not create a second discount.
Troubleshooting
The Form Does Not Send the Discount by Email
A Signup Form can display a discount in the Success Message, but it does not send an email automatically.
To send the discount by email, create a Welcome Automation Workflow. Find more details above.
The Workflow Does Not Show the Form-Generated Discount
Check that:
The Signup Form or gamification item has a discount configured.
The contact completed the form or gamification interaction.
The workflow message includes the Discount code event personalization.
The workflow is enabled.
The workflow doesn't have trigger filters that may block the contact from entering the workflow. Check the Trigger Preview Tool.
The Shopify Collection Used by the Discount Was Deleted
A Shopify collection discount can stop working if the collection linked to it is deleted.
For example:
You create a discount that applies to Shopify collection X.
You use that discount in a Signup Form.
You delete collection X in Shopify.
Shopify marks the discount as expired.
The Signup Form remains live.
The form may continue sending pre-generated codes that are no longer valid.
The parent discount cannot be created with the deleted collection ID.
The form can no longer issue new codes.
Solution:
Open the Signup Form and select the discount’s Edit icon. Choose another live Shopify collection, or change Apply discount to to All orders or Minimum order price, then save your changes.
You can also create a new discount setup with a live collection.
