The event passed to Omnisend from your store or any third-party app can carry the information about that event or the customer that triggered it. For example, the abandoned cart workflow can add the checkout link and products the customer left.

In this article, we will look into different pieces of data and the places where you can find them.

Contents

Standard event data

Once your store is fully integrated with Omnisend, we will start getting the following events:

  • Placed Order, which is triggered when the Order is placed in your store; you can specify different products in trigger filters with this event since it carries all order data;

  • Paid for Order, which in contrast to Placed Order trigger, is only triggered when Order payment status changes to Paid; you can specify different products in trigger filters with this event since it carries all order data;

  • Ordered Product, which is triggered when the Order is placed and carries different Product variables in the trigger filters (be aware that this trigger has only one product and doesn't carry billing, shipping, or order data);

  • Order Fulfilled, which is triggered when Order status is changed to fulfilled;

  • Order Canceled, which is triggered when the Order status is changed to canceled;

  • Order Refunded, which is triggered when the Order status is changed to refunded;

  • Added product to cart, which is triggered when the cart is abandoned in your store;

  • Started checkout, which is triggered when the checkout process has started but was abandoned before completing the order;

  • Page Viewed, which is triggered when a specific page is viewed in your store;

  • Product Viewed, which is triggered when any product's page is viewed in your store;

  • Custom events are triggered when your store or a third-party app passes any custom event created in your Omnisend account.

πŸ’¬ To learn more about the Custom events and data they are passing, check the corresponding article.

After you select the trigger in the Automation setting, Omnisend will automatically populate the information about the event to the automation setting and personalization menu and add event-specific items in the email builder.

Event data in the Automation setting

Once you set the event-based triggers in the Automation, the information describing the event will be populated in the automation blocks:

  • Trigger filter settings;

  • Exit conditions filters;

  • Conditional Split.

Personalization menu

The data that is passed with the event and can be added to the content of the message, including Email, SMS, and Push Notifications, are added to the Personalization menu.

πŸ’‘ Check the instructions on personalizing your message content for more examples and tips on dynamically changing your message content.

Items in the Email Builder

Once you set the trigger, some of the blocks related to the event are added to the message and can have only one copy within your message. However, the information available in the personalization menu can be used as many times as you need.

πŸ’‘ If you wish to show these blocks to only some of the contacts, you can add conditions in the Content block settings.

Order-based flows

All order-related automation carry data about the Order, shipping, and billing details. However, each of these events should be used on different occasions.

πŸ’¬ Learn more about each of these triggers, and when you should use them in the article on trigger settings.
