Shopify Markets is a feature within your Shopify account designed to simplify and streamline international selling.

It allows you to expand your business globally by facilitating multi-currency transactions, targeted marketing, and sales management across different countries and regions.

Shopify Markets is one of the most utilized features within Shopify, and for good reason.

Why Does It Matter?

Now, while Shopify Markets does a fantastic job of handling your international sales data, Omnisend comes into play in helping you make the most of that data for your email and SMS marketing efforts.

With Omnisend, you can use the insights and information gathered from Shopify Markets to create personalized campaigns, segment your audience, and track customer data more effectively.

Once you integrate Shopify Markets with your Shopify admin, it seamlessly synchronizes all the data from your Shopify store to Omnisend.

It's important to understand that each Omnisend brand can only connect to one Shopify store URL. Despite this limitation, rest assured that all relevant information from your Shopify admin, including data from any localized stores under the same admin, will still be synced to Omnisend.

If you use Shopify Markets for your Shopify store, here's what you can do in Omnisend.

Utilizing Shopify Markets Data in Omnisend

Segment Your Audience

Use the data gathered from Shopify Markets to segment your audience in Omnisend based on various criteria such as shopping country, language preference, or purchase history.

  • Segment by Country. Omnisend syncs customer information from your Shopify account, including information added manually or provided by the customer at checkout. Afterward, you can use it in single-country-based segments or more sophisticated ones that combine different rules.

  • Segment by store URL. You can set up international domains with both Shopify-managed domains and third-party domains. You can use top-level domains, subdomains, subfolders, or a combination. For example, if you sell in both the United States and France using different languages and currencies, then you can set up the following international domains:

    • your-shop-name.com for the United States

    • your-shop-name.fr, fr.your-shop-name.com, or your-shop-name.com/fr-fr for France

This way, you can use store URL links in segmentation when working with Placed Order or Ordered Product filters, for example. Just make sure to use the domain part that applies to your store.

Use Customers' Native Language in Campaigns and Automations

Similar to the segments described above, you can also use the "Viewed page" event in your segment rule to segment your customers based on their country or browser language. This will help you identify the location of your customers and allow you to create targeted campaigns and automations.

Simply add this event to your segment rule to easily create personalized marketing strategies based on your customer's location and language preferences.

When you segment your audience, you can use these segments in various ways to better target your marketing efforts. For example, you can create campaigns tailored specifically to each segment.

You can also use them in targeted automations to send personalized messages to each group. You can also use these segments to split your workflows so that each group receives content in their native language.

We recommend using the Smart Paragraph - AI tool if you need to translate content. This tool can help you translate text manually into any language you need, making the process seamless.

Remember that we will also translate the default fields for you based on the language and translation settings that you have. You can read more about it in the dedicated guide below.

Use Customers' Native Currency in Campaigns and Automations

When setting up automations like cart abandonment or sending order confirmation emails to customers, displaying the correct currency format is essential. This includes showing the price that was viewed by the customer while browsing the store.

You can access the Currency Formats page within your Store Settings to ensure that your store's currency is presented in the desired format. This tool is user-friendly and intuitive, making it easy to adjust symbol placement, decimal points, and separators to meet your requirements.

You can create a segment based on a Placed order rule and specify the currency. Later, use the segments as an audience for campaigns. Please note that currency adjustments for campaigns need to be done manually.

Use Forms to Target Visitors from Different Countries

When it comes to targeting visitors on your website, you have the option to do so based on the URL or a part of it.

For instance, if you have set up international domains using Shopify-managed or third-party domains, you can use this feature to target specific signup forms for different countries.

This can be done by using the full URLs or parts to create rules and conditions for displaying the signup forms to visitors from different locations. By using this feature effectively, you can improve the conversion rates and provide a better user experience to your website visitors.

In conclusion, Shopify Markets is a valuable tool for expanding your business globally, and Omnisend can help you make the most of the data it gathers.

By utilizing Omnisend features, you can segment your audience, use customers' native language and currency in campaigns and automations, and target visitors from different countries with signup forms.
