About Reviews
Our Omnisend Product Reviews solution will offer several ways to improve your customer feedback loop. You will be able to automate post-purchase product review requests, display positive product reviews in your Shopify store, emails, and forms, and improve your SEO rankings to attract more traffic.
Importing Reviews
If you're looking to import reviews to Omnisend, there are three ways to do it.
From Shopify (Export from Shopify → Import to Omnisend);
From Judge.me (Export from Judge.me → Import to Omnisend);
From Loox (Export from Loox → Import to Omnisend);
From other platforms (Export from other platforms → Import to Omnisend).
Follow the appropriate method described below based on where your reviews are stored, and you'll be able to import them to Omnisend in no time.
Export from Shopify
Before you can import your Shopify reviews to Omnisend, you need to export them from Shopify. Please follow the steps on the right side of the screen.
From your Shopify admin, click Settings → Apps and sales channels.
From the Apps and Sales Channels page → click Product Reviews → Open app.
Click Export.
If you have 100 reviews or fewer, then a CSV spreadsheet file downloads in your browser. If you have more than 100 reviews, then you receive a link by email to download your reviews as a ZIP file. When you receive the email, download and unzip the file to get the CSV file of your product reviews.
Once you have exported the file, click Next in Omnisend.
Import Reviews from Shopify to Omnisend
Click Browse files or Drag & drop the file into the field. Once selected, you will see that the upload is in progress. Click Next when the upload is complete.
That's it! You will see a page called import overview indicating the number of reviews found in the file. Click Finish to finalize the process.
Export from Judge.me
Before you can import your Judge.me reviews to Omnisend, you need to export them from Judge.me. Please follow the steps on the right side of the screen.
Open Judge.me Reviews in your Shopify Apps.
Go to Manage Reviews.
Press Import & Export.
Select Export published Reviews.

Once you have exported the file, click Next in Omnisend.
Import from Judge.me to Omnisend
Click Browse files or Drag & drop the file into the field. Once selected, you will see that the upload is in progress. Click Next when the upload is complete.
That's it! You will see a page called import overview indicating the number of reviews found in the file. Click Finish to finalize the process.
Export from Loox
Before you can import your Loox reviews to Omnisend, you need to export them from Loox. Please follow the steps on the right side of the screen.
Open Loox Reviews in your Shopify Apps.
Go to Reviews.
Open Manage Reviews.
Select Export all reviews to .csv file.

Once you have exported the file, click Next in Omnisend.
Import from Loox to Omnisend
Click Browse files or Drag & drop the file into the field. Once selected, you will see that the upload is in progress. Click Next when the upload is complete.
That's it! You will see a page called import overview indicating the number of reviews found in the file. Click Finish to finalize the process.
You can import images from product reviews from both Loox and Judge.me to Omnisend.
Export from Other Platforms
If you choose Other as your previous review platform, you will be prompted to download a sample file by clicking on the Download template.
Then, you will need to add your reviews to the file and save the file with review information before importing it to Omnisend.
The template file you have downloaded contains columns that must be filled out with your actual reviews. This is necessary if you want to import your reviews to Omnisend. Please note that all fields must be in the same order as the template example you've downloaded.
Important: All columns from the template file are required, even if left empty, in the same order as the example in the table below.
To add a new review, you will need to add a new row in the file and fill out all the required information about your review. Attached below are guides on how to add rows in different apps you might use to work with spreadsheets.
The table below gives an overview of the data that you will need to fill out for each review. This data should be found either on your store admin end or your previous review app.

product_handle | This is the tail end of your product's URL. For example, if your product is displayed on your online store at https://example.com/products/collection/blue-t-shirt, then the |
state | The status of the review, such as published or unpublished. |
rating | A score from 1-5, where 5 represents the most positive product review. |
title | A short, bolded title summarizing the customer's experience. For example, "Awesome!" |
author | The first and last name connected to the customer account that submitted the review. |
The customer's email address. | |
body | A longer description of the customer's experience. They can elaborate on what they liked or did not like about your product. |
reply | An optional response to the review. |
created_at | The date and time when the product review was created by the customer. |
replied_at | The date and time when the reply was created. |
imageURLs | URLs of the images added to reviews. For example: https://example.com/image.jpg |
Below, you will find examples of date formats for the replied_at and created_at columns:

Please note that adding a review requires a valid email address. Reviews are mapped to existing contacts, or new contacts are created if needed. If the email address is missing, the review cannot be imported.
If the file containing reviews is successfully imported, any emails within it will be added as non-subscribers. If the reviewers were previously subscribed or unsubscribed to your newsletters, their subscription status will remain unchanged.
Once you have prepared the file, click Next in Omnisend.
Import Reviews from Other Platforms to Omnisend
Click Browse files or Drag & drop the file into the field. Once selected, you will see that the upload is in progress. Click Next when the upload is complete.
That's it! You will see a page called import overview indicating the number of reviews found in the file. Click Finish to finalize the process.
Troubleshooting
If you get problems with non-Latin letters or symbols not being displayed correctly in the reviews list, please follow these steps:
Delete the uploaded reviews;
Save the .csv file in UTF-8 format;
Re-upload your reviews to Omnisend.
